Spring 2010 colour trends

With every season there are new styles and colours that are "in fashion" and this is true for jewellery trends as well.
The colours that are expected to be the trend for spring 2010 from the Pantone colour fashion report are described as follows:

" turquoise, tomato puree, fusion coral, violet, Tuscany, aurora, mparo blue, pink champagne, dried herb and eucalyptus.
Taking a closer look at the tones, falling on the more vibrant side of the spectrum is turquoise, a cool, tropical hue; bright Amparo blue, a navy-esque tone with warmth; romantic violet; greenish-yellow aurora; bold and provocative fusion coral; and tangy tomato puree, the season’s classic red.
Among the neutrals forming the season’s color backbone is the delicate, wispy pink champagne; Tuscany, a warm beige; dried herb, the ultimate green neutral, which will pair well with all other colors; and cool eucalyptus, a classic, practical gray."

If these are what we will see in clothing, then I need to think about complimenting them when creating new designs. Some colours are classic and always popular, but often when there is a new trend you just don't have anything in your collection to wear with the item you just bought. That is where someone like me might be able to help :)

Custom pieces

After my last show I had a few people contact me with requests for custom pieces. I am happy to take orders for something in particular that people are looking for, do up a mock piece to show them how it would look and if they like the photo I can complete it and send it to them.

Great show in Cannington

Back in August I had a great show in Cannington. A really good turn out and I sold almost all of my inventory in the 2 days which was a nice surprise :)

A wide variety of ages appreciated my display and I had requests for some custom pieces as well. Definitely worth the effort to head north for this show!

A successful show :)

We were lucky today and the weather held until the last half hour of the show. It went really well ! A big thank you to the friends and family who came out to support me in my first showing. I sold over 20 pieces and my display was well received so I am pleased :) I've worked many trade shows before but it's different when it's YOUR show and YOUR work out there. Vacation time!

This piece is sort of fun'n'flirty- makes me think of being on vacation at the beach.

Pink'n'Purple

I really like the combination of colours in this piece- I also like how the texture of the stone nuggets contrasts with the pearl and the sparkle of the smokey grey beads. I think I will have to make another one like it for myself....

Treasure from the Sea

Last summer while I was on vacation in PEI I collected sea glass and shells with the intention of incorporating them into some jewellery. Here are some photos of what I have used them in so far.

how it starts...

Here is a photo of a piece that I made for a dear friend of mine. I wanted to make something as a christmas gift and when I saw this pendant it just screamed her name! The colours, the sparkle, the hint of the exotic.... something that she could carry off better than anyone. If you see this piece on a brunette with a stunning smile turning heads in Oakville....that's another PurpleSky original :)

As with most new ventures there is always more to do than you originally thought and the time passes quickly. My first show is next week and I still haven't finished everything I want to get done.

I am posting some photos of some new pieces. I've been trying to keep a record of what I make so that others can get an idea about my designs and I can remember exactly what I did.

Some early pieces
